Hello everyone. Firstly, thank you so much Ana for inviting me to write in your corner of the internet. I have not written a blog post in English in a couple of years so this is going to be fun considering my journey on the book community started with my blog called Book Wormy Boy back in 2013 (do not try and look it up, I deleted it out of the face of earth).
Ana invited me to write a blog post recommending her five books that I think she will enjoy reading. As always, I will be promoting marginalized authors and books that I think can truly impact our lives as readers. Let us get started!
The first book I am recommending is Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam of the Exonerated Five who became a prison reform activist. This is a YA novel in verse and you will read it in one day for sure because it is truly hard to put it down once you start reading. This book talks about a 16-year-old boy, Amal, who is an artist, and we follow his life until he is wrongfully incarcerated.
Ibi Zoboi said in an interview: “So in that sense, for many people around the world, being here is the American dream. But once we are here and can start to connect the dots that make up the racial injustices in this country, we realize that it can be a nightmare for some. And while there can be individual successes, what do those successes mean when there are constant injustices?”. This sums up the intention behind this story.
Furia by Yamile Saied Méndez is my second recommendation because it is important to read #ownvoices stories. This is a fast-paced novel that focuses essentially on fighting for basic human rights and the exploration of how a teen girl is treated by the people that are supposed to take care of her but in the end, they end up not believing in her power. Camila’s strength and self-love is what made me instantly fall in love with this book and I cant wait to read more by this author. I genuinely think that everyone needs to pick this up especially because the community needs to read more latinx authors.
Be Dazzled by Ryan La Sala is marketed as Project Runway goes to Comic Con in an epic queer love story about creativity, passion, and finding the courage to be your most authentic self. As Ana & everyone online knows, I am not afraid to be myself. I am 22 & very gay and I am extremely proud of that. I had to fight a lot to be where I am today because no one can tell me what I can or cannot do with my life. I genuinely believe that books play a big part in my self-acceptance and self-expression & Be Dazzled is one of them.
Books like these remind that I should never stop being who I truly want to be because only that will bring me true happiness. The writing is exquisite, and you will fall in love with the characters in the first pages. I read this back in January and I still think about it at least once a week, that means it stick with me.
Get A Life Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert is one of the funniest books I have ever read. It needs to be made into a tv show & that is exactly why I am recommending it. I think everyone should meet Chloe Brown because she is a chronically ill computer geek with a list. This story will follow her trying to complete it and it is hilarious.
Our love interest is incredibly complex and the romance they build together is gorgeous to read about. Chronically ill people deserve to be in a relationship too and we need more representation. We also get to meet Chloe’s sisters who now have their own books so if you love Chloe Brown you have two more to pick up.
Lastly, I will be recommending The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta. This novel in verse talks about a boy who is figuring out who he is as a mixed-race gay teen. As the story progresses, later in life when he is at university, he finds his interest in becoming a drag artist, The Black Flamingo. This story is truly touching and makes you understand that being yourself and embracing your individuality is your biggest weapon in this society. If you decide to pick up any of these books, this one is a good one to start with.
Thank you so much Ana for inviting me to write a blog post. This made me reminisce the good old days in this community and I am grateful that you gave me a chance to write my thoughts down on (virtual) paper for you. Happy reading!

Hi guys! It's Ana and welcome to my blog.

Today's post is the start of a new series called Q&A. In this new series I'm working with book bloggers, bookstagramers and booktubers to know more about their love for books.

The first book lover is a book blogger and her name is Noura. She is one of my favorite book bloggers and an amazing friend! - The Perks of Being Noura

Before I share the questions and answers I want to share some links where you can help changing the world:

Stream this video to raise money for the BLM movement (don't skip the ads):

1.  What made you create a book blog?

I needed an outlet because of my love for books. I didn’t really know many people who read books and I often felt like my excitement over them was bottled up. I really wanted to talk about them with other readers. I also really loved writing so blogging seemed perfect for me. I was intimidated at first but then decided to give blogging a try!

2. What is your favorite post to write?

I really love making lists and as of this year making reading blogs! I often suffer trying to come up with list ideas but eventually it works out. Reading blogs came along because I love reading vlogs and wanted to make something similar in reading format.

3. What are the best and worst parts of book blogging?

The best is probably the ability to share favorite reads with other readers! I just love writing reviews and I get so excited when someone says they’ll pick up the book because of me. The feeling is always amazing!

The worst could be that I feel like I always need to be creating more content. It can be pressuring at times.

4. Who are your favorite book bloggers?

Oh I have so many! The ones I can remember off the top of my head are Rain @ Book Dragonism, Mieke @ The Little Mouse That Reads, Krisha @ Bookathon, Ruby Rae @ Ruby Rae Reads, and Rameela @ Star is All Booked Up.

5. What is the best recommendation given by a book blogger?

There have been so many but a recent one was Mirage by Somaiya Daud. I had it on my tbr for a while but I was pushed to read it thanks to some book bloggers!

6. What are your blogging plans for the future?

I don’t have any definite plans but I’d love to have more author interviews! I love talking to them about their books and introducing the readers who follow my blog to them. Always discovering amazing authors and new books.

7. What book do you think is overhyped? What book you think that doesn't have enough hype?

I mean I guess Paper Towns? I remember so many people talking about that book. I didn’t see the appeal and honestly really hated the book.

When it comes to underhyped books there are so many! Especially by authors of color. One that I wish more people would read is The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by K.S. Villoso. It’s a dark adult fantasy that I really enjoyed this year.

8. If you could switch places with a character. What character would you choose?

If I could avoid the near death experiences maybe Tessa from The Infernal Devices. She was a favorite of mine when I was a teen and still is.

9. If you could choose an author to be your writing partner. Who would you choose?

Oh this is hard! I enjoy writing but I don’t think I’d be good enough compared to my favorites. I would pick Roshani Chokshi though! I love her writing so so much and to work with her would be amazing.

10. Who is your favorite author/s?

I’ve had a few over the years but some are Roshani Chokshi, S.A. Chakraborty, S.K. Ali, Cassandra Clare, Sarah J. Maas and Justin Reynolds.

11. Are you a writer, a reader or both?

I like to think I’m both but if I’m honest I haven’t written in a while. I always have characters and scenarios in my head but I haven’t committed to writing them just yet.

12. What is your favorite genre? What books you recommend of that genre?

Fantasy has always been my favorite. The ones I recommend the most are The Daevabad Trilogy, We Hunt the Flame, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin, and The Gilded Wolves.

13. What is your most anticipated release for the rest of the year?

I’m super excited for These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong and Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. There two mostly but I’m sure there are more.

14. What book made you fall in love with reading?

I read when I was little but I stopped for some time. So when I got back into reading it was all thanks to The Hunger Games and The Mortal Instruments/The Infernal Devices.

15. What is your favorite book, movie, tv show and song?

Book: The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty.

Movie: Birds of Prey.

Tv Show: Friends.

Song: Someone you love by Lewis Capaldi.

16. Do you think that international book bloggers don't have the same opportunities?

I believe international book bloggers are at a disadvantage. There are a lot of things that aren’t accessible to us whether it’s getting arcs or even as simple as book stores and libraries. There are so many amazing international book bloggers out there who work really hard with what they have. I believe international bloggers need a lot more recognition than what they’re given and sho uld have the same chances as US/UK based book bloggers.

I want to thank Noura for participating in this post and don't forget to visit her blogger!

Leave in the comments if you have a book blogger, bookstagramers and booktuber that you want to see in this series!

Hi guys! It's Ana and welcome to my blog.

Today's post is the start of a new series called Q&A. In this new series I'm working with book bloggers, bookstagramers and booktubers to know more about their love for books.

The first book lover is a booktuber and her name is Mafalda. She is one of my favorite booktubers and you should subscribe to her channel - mafalda is reading

Before I share the questions and answers I want to share some links where you can help changing the world:

Stream this video to raise money for the BLM movement (don't skip the ads):

1. What made you create a booktube channel?

I remember discovering the booktube community in 2012 and ever since I've always wanted to try it for myself. I had just fallen in love with reading and wanted to share my opinions about the books I was reading. But I always made up excuses about actually starting a channel (that I didn't have time, or that I didn't have the right equipment). Later last year I was fired from a job and suddenly had so much time on my hands, that I just decided to give it a try!

2. What is your favorite video to make?

My favorite videos to make are always hauls because I get so excited to share new books with the people watching!

3. Do you think that international booktubers don't have the same opportunities?

I have no doubt that US and UK booktubers have a lot more opportunities than international ones, but that is not to say that we don't get opportunities as well. I think we just have to put ourselves a bit more out there and maybe be the ones to initiate contact with publishers for them to notice us and work with us!

4. What are the best and worst parts of booktube?

The best part is the community and the friends you can make! I've had such a wonderful experience on booktube, especially because of the people I've met and how much love and support I've felt from the beginning. The worst part is maybe continuing to have the motivation to film, even when things aren't going as well as you thought! The numbers and comparisons can really get to you!

5. Who are your favorite booktubers?

I feel like this changes every couple of months, but one that I will always drop everything to watch is Kayla from BooksandLala. She's so creative and organized with her content and I always get wonderful recommendations from her videos!

6. What is the best recommendation given by a booktuber?

I feel like all the books I read are recommendations from someone within the book community, but one that comes to mind is The Shadow of the Wind. I read it because of Hannah from A Clockwork Reader loves it so much, and it's now one of my favorite books!

7. What are your booktube plans for the future?

Right now I honestly have no big plans for my channel, but I would like to host a readathon in the next year possibly!

8. What book do you think is overhyped? What book you think that doesn't have enough hype?

A book I think is overhyped is The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, I just found it incredibly boring, even though the commentary is important! For an underrated book I'll go with Blood Water Paint by Joy McCullough!

9. If you could switch places with a character. What character would you choose?

A very cliché answer, but I would have to say any Hogwarts student after the Battle of Hogwarts! I just want the experience of being a witch there!

10. If you could chose a author to be your writing partner. Who would you choose?

I would love for Rick Riordan to by my writing partner! I just want his tips on how to stay motivated and how he outlines a story, since he writes so much.

11. Who is your favorite author/s?

Carlos Ruiz Zafón and Elizabeth Acevedo!

12. Are you a writer, a reader or both?

I guess I'm both, even though I haven't written in a while. I would like to write a book one day, but I'm not a very disciplined writer!

13. What is your favorite genre? What books you recommend of that genre?

My favorite genre is YA contemporary fiction, and a book I recommend from that genre is The Hate You Give and Clap When You Land.

14. What is your most anticipated release for the rest of the year?

Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer! I'm super intrigued to see how she writes contemporary romance!

15. What book made you falling in love with reading?

The Harry Potter books, like most of the reading community nowadays.

16. What is your favorite book, movie, tv show and song?

My favorite books is definitely The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. My favorite movie is either Her by Spike Jonze or The Wizard of Oz by Victor Fleming. My favorite tv show is Parks and Recreation and my favorite song always changes, but one of them is definitely Campus by Vampire Weekend.

I want to thank Mafalda for participating in this post and don't forget to visit her channel!

Today's post is the start of a new series called Q&A. In this new series I'm working with book bloggers, bookstagramers and booktubers to know more about their love for books.

1. What made you create a bookstagram account?

— I just thought it would be fun to be able to talks aboutbooks and discover titles through the community. It was a great new way to connect to so many people who share your love of reading! Taking pictures is also a fun hobby.

2. Do you think that bookstagram talks about diversity? What can be change?

— It does, I've seen so many post and stories recently and it's been helpful in discovering diverse titles.

3. Do you think that international bookstagramers don't have the same opportunities?

— I think with the market being mostly based in the United States and with there being so many events there, I think it creates more opportunities, but I also don't know much about how the book world works in others countries to be able to accurately judge it.

4. What are the best and worst parts of bookstagram?

— The community, the people you meet, to be able to connect with a complete stranger about a book.

— I think how overhyped a book can get because it's part of a virtual tour or book boxes.

5. Who are your favorite bookstagramers?

— There are so many and here are only a few to name: @bookrepository, @bookishselenophile, @broadenyourminds @cbookaddiction @bookish_mai, @hturningpages

6. What is the best recommendation given by a bookstagramer?

— The Poppy War, I think

7. What book do you think is overhyped? What book you think that doesn't have enough hype?

— Caraval is definitely one I think was overhyped. I've only read the first book and didn't like it enough to continue.

— Dark Days Club is an underrated title I'm always recommending. Also, Retribution Falls is really good and not known at all.

8. If you could switch places with a character. What character would you choose?

— Maybe Luna Lovegood, I'd love to know what happens inside her very peculiar mind.

9. If you could chose a author to be your writing partner. Who would you choose?

— Brandon Sanderson, he's just such a phenomenal writer and I'd love to know how he comes up with such amazing stories, worlds and magic systems! I feel like he'd be able to teach me so much!

10. Who is your favorite author/s?

— Brandon Sanderson, Leigh Bardugo, Jane Austen

11. Are you a writer, a reader or both?

— Just a reader for now, I never really tried my hand at writing.

12. What is your favorite genre? What books you recommend of that genre?

— Fantasy, whether it's Adult (Stormlight Archive, Mistborn, The Poppy War, The Fifth Season), YA (Six of Crows, Dark Days Club, Strange the Dreamer, Three Dark Crowns) or Middle Grade (The Iron Trial, Harry Potter, Trials of Morrigan Crow)

13. What is your most anticipated release for the rest of the year?

— Definitely Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson, I'm eagerly counting the days!

14. What book made you falling in love with reading?

— I grew up reading a lot of French titles such as Klonk and Noémie. Then I read a lot of abridged classics - those are what got me into reading. My love for fantasy books came after reading Harry Potter.

15 - What is your favorite book, movie, tv show and song?

My favourite book is most likely The Stormlight Archive series. Favorite movie is LOTR. TV Show is maybe Supernatural. I also really liked Once Upon a Time, The Killing, North & South and Modern Family. I don't listen to much music to be honest.

I want to thank Moona for participating in this post and don't forget to visit her account!

Hi guys! My name is Ana and welcome to my blog.
After a time away from the blog I am back with two reviews of two books that I recently read.

Before I share my reviews I want to share some links where you can help changing the world:

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

"Welcome to Edwardian London, a time of electric lights and long shadows, the celebration of artistic beauty and the wild pursuit of pleasure, with demons waiting in the dark. For years there has been peace in the Shadowhunter world. James and Lucie Herondale have grown up in an idyll with their loving friends and family, listening to stories of good defeating evil and love conquering all. But everything changes when the Blackthorn and Carstairs families come to London… and so does a remorseless and inescapable plague.

James Herondale longs for a great love, and thinks he has found it in the beautiful, mysterious Grace Blackthorn. Cordelia Carstairs is desperate to become a hero, save her family from ruin, and keep her secret love for James hidden. When disaster strikes the Shadowhunters, James, Cordelia and their friends are plunged into a wild adventure which will reveal dark and incredible powers, and the true cruel price of being a hero... and falling in love."

Chain of Gold is about friendship, love, adventure, loyalty, family.
We follow Cordelia Carstairs and her arrival in London to save her family and to become a hero. We also follow Lucie and the Merry Thieves (Matthew, Thomas, Christopher and James).
Cordelia is one of my favorite character in the Shadowhunter Chronicles. She is funny, smart brave, loyal and she fights for what she believes and is not afraid to speak her mind and that is why she is one of my favorites. I also really like Lucie because she is a fighter, adventurous and she doesn't let anyone tell her what she can and can't do and I love her because of that. Their friendship is one of my favorite part of the book.
Another thing that I love is the Merry Thieves scenes because they are so funny. James is intelligent, an amazing friend, parabatai and brother, he is also a fighter. Christopher and Thomas are brilliant, extraordinary friends, loyal, brave. Matthew is also loyal and very brave, an amazing friend and parabatai, he is courageous and very intriguing.
Besides the main characters my favorite is Anna. She is bold, fascinating, confident, fearless and I love her.
Some of my favorite parts are the ones with Will, Tessa, Jem, Sophie, Cecily, Gideon, Gabriel and my all time favorite Magnus Bane.
One thing I didn't like was a developed of a love triangle that we see in the end of the book and I don't think that it was necessary.
I can't wait to read the next book and find what will happen with my favorite characters.
Overall I love the story, the characters, the writing and being back to my favorite world.
If you want to read this book and you haven't read any of the Shadowhunter Chronicles I recommend you read first The Infernal Devices trilogy.

"You decide the truth about yourself. No one else. And the choice about what kind of person you will be is yours alone."
- Cassandra Clare

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Six of Crows - summary:

"Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone...

A convict with a thirst for revenge

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager

A runaway with a privileged past

A spy known as the Wraith

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes

Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction - if they don’t kill each other first."

Crooked Kingdom is about friendship, loyalty, revenge, freedom and what that really means, family and fight for what you believe.
It starts where Six of Crows ended and this book is amazing and at the same time it's crazy (in a good way).
Kaz is intelligent, ambitious, bold, brilliant, sarcastic, intriguing and he remind me of Thomas Shelby from the TV show Peaky Blinders.
Inej and Nina are the most bad ass characters in the Grisha world. They are fighters, loyal, brave, adventurous, intelligent, ambitious, strong, fearless and they don't let others say what they can and can't do.
Matthias is loyal, funny, caring, smart, devoted, strong, protector and the parts with him and Nina are some of my favorite.
Jesper is sarcastic, charming, hilarious, determined, sassy, daring, confident and I loved to read from his point of view.
I really like to read from Wylan's point of view. He is talented, skilled, reliable, dedicated, and his scenes with Jesper are some of my favorite part of the book.
We see the characters fight their demons, making peace with their past and to see their friendship is one of my favorite part in this duology.
Another thing I really like was the way Leigh Bardugo wrote the twists and turns and the way she starts to reveal the bigger picture of what was really going on in the story.
This duology became one of my favorite and those last chapters made me cry and laugh and I don't know if I can forgive Leigh Bardugo for what she wrote in a particular chapter (if you read the book you know what chapter I am talking about).
Overall I love this book, the story, the characters, the writting, the twists and turns and Leigh Bardugo become one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read King of Scars.
If you still haven't read this duology and if you like books with multiple points of view, great characters, friendship, romance, characters driven this book is for you.

Fear is a phoenix. You can watch it burn a thousand times and still it will return.
- Leigh Bardugo

Have you read any of this books?

What books have you recent read?

Hi! I'm Ana and today I bring seven books that I want to read because I like murder mystery. I'm a big fan of true crime documentaries and because of that I want to read more books that have murder mysteries.

Sadie by Courtney Summers

Sadie hasn't had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she's been raising her sister Mattie in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.

But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie's entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister's killer to justice and hits the road following a few meager clues to find him.

When West McCray ― a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America ― overhears Sadie's story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie's journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it's too late.

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

Shortly after the school opened, his wife and daughter were kidnapped. The only real clue was a mocking riddle listing methods of murder, signed with the frightening pseudonym “Truly, Devious.” It became one of the great unsolved crimes of American history.

True-crime aficionado Stevie Bell is set to begin her first year at Ellingham Academy, and she has an ambitious plan: She will solve this cold case. That is, she will solve the case when she gets a grip on her demanding new school life and her housemates: the inventor, the novelist, the actor, the artist, and the jokester. But something strange is happening. Truly Devious makes a surprise return, and death revisits Ellingham Academy. The past has crawled out of its grave. Someone has gotten away with murder.

My Sister, the serial killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

When Korede's dinner is interrupted one night by a distress call from her sister, Ayoola, she knows what's expected of her: bleach, rubber gloves, nerves of steel and a strong stomach. This'll be the third boyfriend Ayoola's dispatched in, quote, self-defence and the third mess that her lethal little sibling has left Korede to clear away. She should probably go to the police for the good of the menfolk of Nigeria, but she loves her sister and, as they say, family always comes first. Until, that is, Ayoola starts dating the doctor where Korede works as a nurse. Korede's long been in love with him, and isn't prepared to see him wind up with a knife in his back: but to save one would mean sacrificing the other...

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro

The last thing Jamie Watson wants is a rugby scholarship to Sherringford, a Connecticut prep school just an hour away from his estranged father. But that’s not the only complication: Sherringford is also home to Charlotte Holmes, the famous detective’s great-great-great-granddaughter, who has inherited not only Sherlock’s genius but also his volatile temperament. From everything Jamie has heard about Charlotte, it seems safer to admire her from afar.

From the moment they meet, there’s a tense energy between them, and they seem more destined to be rivals than anything else. But when a Sherringford student dies under suspicious circumstances, ripped straight from the most terrifying of the Sherlock Holmes stories, Jamie can no longer afford to keep his distance. Jamie and Charlotte are being framed for murder, and only Charlotte can clear their names.

Tonight, Evelyn Hardcastle will be killed... again.

It is meant to be a celebration but it ends in tragedy. As fireworks explode overhead, Evelyn Hardcastle, the young and beautiful daughter of the house, is killed.

But Evelyn will not die just once. Until Aiden – one of the guests summoned to Blackheath for the party – can solve her murder, the day will repeat itself, over and over again. Every time ending with the fateful pistol shot.

The only way to break this cycle is to identify the killer. But each time the day begins again, Aiden wakes in the body of a different guest. And someone is determined to prevent him ever escaping Blackheath...

Oliver Marks has just served ten years in jail - for a murder he may or may not have committed. On the day he's released, he's greeted by the man who put him in prison. Detective Colborne is retiring, but before he does, he wants to know what really happened a decade ago.

As one of seven young actors studying Shakespeare at an elite arts college, Oliver and his friends play the same roles onstage and off: hero, villain, tyrant, temptress, ingenue, extra. But when the casting changes, and the secondary characters usurp the stars, the plays spill dangerously over into life, and one of them is found dead. The rest face their greatest acting challenge yet: convincing the police, and themselves, that they are blameless.

The Five by Hallie Rubenhold

Polly, Annie, Elizabeth, Catherine and Mary-Jane are famous for the same thing, though they never met. They came from Fleet Street, Knightsbridge, Wolverhampton, Sweden and Wales. They wrote ballads, ran coffee houses, lived on country estates, they breathed ink-dust from printing presses and escaped people-traffickers. What they had in common was the year of their murders: 1888. The person responsible was never identified, but the character created by the press to fill that gap has become far more famous than any of these five women.
For more than a century, newspapers have been keen to tell us that ‘the Ripper’ preyed on prostitutes.
