Q&A with Mafalda

Hi guys! It's Ana and welcome to my blog.

Today's post is the start of a new series called Q&A. In this new series I'm working with book bloggers, bookstagramers and booktubers to know more about their love for books.

The first book lover is a booktuber and her name is Mafalda. She is one of my favorite booktubers and you should subscribe to her channel - mafalda is reading

Before I share the questions and answers I want to share some links where you can help changing the world:

1. What made you create a booktube channel?

I remember discovering the booktube community in 2012 and ever since I've always wanted to try it for myself. I had just fallen in love with reading and wanted to share my opinions about the books I was reading. But I always made up excuses about actually starting a channel (that I didn't have time, or that I didn't have the right equipment). Later last year I was fired from a job and suddenly had so much time on my hands, that I just decided to give it a try!

2. What is your favorite video to make?

My favorite videos to make are always hauls because I get so excited to share new books with the people watching!

3. Do you think that international booktubers don't have the same opportunities?

I have no doubt that US and UK booktubers have a lot more opportunities than international ones, but that is not to say that we don't get opportunities as well. I think we just have to put ourselves a bit more out there and maybe be the ones to initiate contact with publishers for them to notice us and work with us!

4. What are the best and worst parts of booktube?

The best part is the community and the friends you can make! I've had such a wonderful experience on booktube, especially because of the people I've met and how much love and support I've felt from the beginning. The worst part is maybe continuing to have the motivation to film, even when things aren't going as well as you thought! The numbers and comparisons can really get to you!

5. Who are your favorite booktubers?

I feel like this changes every couple of months, but one that I will always drop everything to watch is Kayla from BooksandLala. She's so creative and organized with her content and I always get wonderful recommendations from her videos!

6. What is the best recommendation given by a booktuber?

I feel like all the books I read are recommendations from someone within the book community, but one that comes to mind is The Shadow of the Wind. I read it because of Hannah from A Clockwork Reader loves it so much, and it's now one of my favorite books!

7. What are your booktube plans for the future?

Right now I honestly have no big plans for my channel, but I would like to host a readathon in the next year possibly!

8. What book do you think is overhyped? What book you think that doesn't have enough hype?

A book I think is overhyped is The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, I just found it incredibly boring, even though the commentary is important! For an underrated book I'll go with Blood Water Paint by Joy McCullough!

9. If you could switch places with a character. What character would you choose?

A very cliché answer, but I would have to say any Hogwarts student after the Battle of Hogwarts! I just want the experience of being a witch there!

10. If you could chose a author to be your writing partner. Who would you choose?

I would love for Rick Riordan to by my writing partner! I just want his tips on how to stay motivated and how he outlines a story, since he writes so much.

11. Who is your favorite author/s?

Carlos Ruiz Zafón and Elizabeth Acevedo!

12. Are you a writer, a reader or both?

I guess I'm both, even though I haven't written in a while. I would like to write a book one day, but I'm not a very disciplined writer!

13. What is your favorite genre? What books you recommend of that genre?

My favorite genre is YA contemporary fiction, and a book I recommend from that genre is The Hate You Give and Clap When You Land.

14. What is your most anticipated release for the rest of the year?

Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer! I'm super intrigued to see how she writes contemporary romance!

15. What book made you falling in love with reading?

The Harry Potter books, like most of the reading community nowadays.

16. What is your favorite book, movie, tv show and song?

My favorite books is definitely The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. My favorite movie is either Her by Spike Jonze or The Wizard of Oz by Victor Fleming. My favorite tv show is Parks and Recreation and my favorite song always changes, but one of them is definitely Campus by Vampire Weekend.

I want to thank Mafalda for participating in this post and don't forget to visit her channel!

Leave in the comments if you have a book blogger, bookstagramers and booktuber that you want to see in this series!
